Motorsport Sunday
Sunday I headed out to Mallala for Round 3 of the SA Motor Racing Championship after receiving a freebie ticket. I was due to be a Clovey at 4 o’clock so I couldn’t stay all day but it was a fun day anyway. Lots of different cars racing, all very well turned out and again none of the biff and barge we normally see in V8 Supercars.
Included during the day were a number of handicap races which forced close racing amongst small fields which were often spread over the whole track and meant very little dicing for position. Whilst many call it contrived racing it definitely adds to the day of racing and gives some of the slower cars a chance to win some racers – generally the handicap was well done and it came down to the last few corners for the winner to be decided.
Unfortunately the grandstand at the top of the starting straight wasnt open (I think they are repairing it in time for the V8 Development Series in a few weeks) so I didnt get too many good photos. Also once again I get a little sun burnt – who expects to get sun burnt in the middle of August – but it was a typical Mallala day (if there is such a thing) the sun was out, not a cloud in the sky and the was 100km/hr (just guessing, it might be a slight exaggeration) gale blowing most of the day.
All up it was a good day. Below are a couple of photos and there are a few more in my gallery.
