Grass Fire – Chamber’s Gully
This afternoon whilst watching the grand prix coverage on TV we could smell smoke, so we went out to investigate where it was coming from. We sort of worked out where it was so we decided to go out for a bit of a drive to see if we could see it. We found it in a Gully in Golden Grove behind the village shopping centre, we later found out via the police radio that it was called Chamber’s Gully. It was fairly close to houses but it never really threatened them, when we arrive there was a single metropolitan fire appliance, attempting to put the fire out, but they ran out of water as it was flaring up around them so that got out of the area back onto the road to refill the tanks. They got back to fighting the fire before a country fire appliance arrived. It had almost burnt itself out by that stage but they did need to make sure it was out properly.
