It has been a while, still sorting out photos from my trip to Victoria – should post them up next week I reckon. Struggling keeping on top of all things house related as well as heaps of work and also I have started studying again – 2 subjects via Open University.

The weekend just gone though is a weekend I always set aside to do very little but watch V8s. However this year I decided to have a small Bathurst Party at my house in the shed which meant I had heaps to do and was still doing stuff Saturday night in preparation. It was a good day expect for the end result and all the cleaning up to do as well but oh well.

The following youtube clip is a intro to the race narrated by Russell Crowe, I found it great, made the hair stand up on the back of the neck. Enjoy.

Yes I went to Winton in the end. Dad managed to get me some accommodation at Mulwala a Murray River border town with Yarrawonga (where I stayed last year) for quite cheap so I went over. It was a good weekend, I drove over early Friday and drove straight to the track for the final 1.5hrs of practise for the V8s. It was bitterly cold, the wind was blowing a gale which is what made it so cold. Both Saturday and Sunday were cold but no where near as cold as Friday was, it only rained a little on Sunday and it was more like mist and barely worth putting the umbrella up. I got there nice and early to make sure I got my vantage points each of the days, on the Saturday I had to contend with sheep on the road for my drive down.

It was a great weekend, although Holden did officially win the round – Ford did win 2 of the races and 2 Ford drivers were on equal points for the lead with Holden, so it was ok.

It was nice to get away for a few days and not have to worry about work or anything else.

Yes I am still waiting to move into my house, the owners are still renting it.

So far I have no idea when I will be moving in, I am becoming a little impatient until I remember that they are paying me rent which is helping me pay off the mortgage. However the down side is because someone is helping me pay off the house it is also making my feet itch (and no its not tinea) I keep thinking that because of the extra income it will be alright for me to go Victoria for a V8 Supercars round.

I did the maths the other night to calculate the petrol costs at about 2,250km for a weekend at Winton it would be about $450 or for a weekend at Phillip Island it would be 1,900km and about $400 and that is before accommodation. When I see those figures and I just can’t ignore the mortgage – I think I will just have to wait out till next year.

I didn’t go to Sandown but found out my uncle was going, and gave him strict instructions to get some photos of the new Ford V8 Supercar the FG V8 Supercar.

He did a pretty good job of it, below are some of the photos – no side on shots mainly because the car was in the pit garage so there was no chance of getting the side on shot without lots of people in the way.

So you probably would have noticed that I enjoy my sport (as a spectator mostly), so I like to keep up to date with what is going on. There are so many web sites out there with news about my 2 favourite sports – basketball and motorsport, it is hard to keep up with what is going on. I had a stack of sites in an RSS reader but even that didn’t cover everything. So I have created my own site – My Sports News, it has 2 main areas Basketball News and Motorsport News. Feel free to use it, it doesn’t track all categories within those 2 sports it is designed mainly for me to keep up with what I am interested in. It is basically a collection of sites loaded onto a single page for easier access to all the news that I want.

What a weekend

Well it was a great weekend last weekend, I have been busy catching up with work and on a couple of other things, so I haven’t posted yet.

So my Clipsal 500 has ended for another year, was too busy to post over the weekend and busy catching up with other stuff yesterday. It was a great weekend, but a sad Monday to hear of the death of Ashley Cooper after a crash on Saturday.

It was good to get back into V8 Supercars for another year of great racing. It was good to be there for it and it was good to see Ford win, but what was Lowndes and Courtney doing taking out 3 Fords, come on sort yourselves out.

I had Barry Sheene (Pit) Straight tickets this year, in section J row ZA – yes a long way up, whilst they were a long way up, you didn’t have to always stare at the fence, I liked that bit but getting up and down the stairs during the day was a killer. Luckily we managed to get a car park inside a friends apartment right outside gate 1, made the daily walk quite short. Hopefully she is still living there for many years to come

Phillip Island Grand Finale

I headed over to Phillip Island for the V8s again – I was joined on Friday night by Phil and Tamara, it was good to not spend the whole weekend by myself for sure. The weekend was good – ignoring the final result, but it was great racing all weekend and it was mostly clean too. Of course I really wanted Lowndes to take Tander out in the last race, but you cant have everything can you:). I am not sure if I will head over next year, Phillip Island is not going to be the last race of the year next year, it is going to be the lead up endurance race to Bathurst. I have attended Sandown twice when it was the 500km endurance race, it was good, but I think what made it was that you could sit in a covered grandstand and not worry about the fact that it was pouring down with rain and 6&deg in the open. At Phillip Island there is no shelter and it can be guaranteed to be wet – it wont be pretty, but that doesn’t rule out me heading over anyway .

Classic Adelaide Rally 2007

On Election Day November 24, I headed into Adelaide to watch the start of the Classic Adelaide Rally and get a few photos. It was difficult conditions with sun and shade, but I got a few half decent photos. I have finally gotten around to upload some of the photos to Flickr, feel free to have a look and make comments.
