Ok so the cricket ended with the Aussies losing in straight sets for the second year in a row, but the highlight of the summer came in this final one day international. Andrew “Roy” Symonds hip and shouldered a streaker running towards him during the game. Of course its on youtube and I thought I would post it.

Ben We Applaud You For What You Have Overcome

The title was a banner at Subiaco on Saturday night. It is an interesting concept – Australians put their sporting stars up on a pedestal and when they fall – in whatever way they fall the media and a lot of the public are very quick to shoot them down. People cry they are role models they should know better. In many ways I agree with this sentiment however they are humans and they can be easily tempted into doing the wrong thing – just as any other human is tempted into doing the wrong thing. We don’t know the whole Ben Cousin’s story, all we know is he was addicted to a substance which required him to go into rehab in United States. It sure didn’t appear to affect his performance and he was never found to have drugs in his system.

Even though I am not a West Coast fan – I say good luck Ben and I applaud you for what you have overcome, I hope you can get on with your life and continue to be an excellent footballer – we would love you in the Crows but I can’t see it happening.

Eagles Win it Finally

After watching Bathurst on TV I raced down to Football Park to watch the final quarter of the SANFL Grand Final – Woodville West Torrens Eagles v Central District Bulldogs. Finally the Eagles defeated the Bulldogs – not just beat them but thrased them by more than 10 goals. It was so good to finally get our second SANFL Premiership, our first since our 1993 Premiership. I did take the camera, but it was a bit dark so didnt get many photos. And seeing as I really didnt see much of the game and what I saw was once the Eagles had been in a convincing position I really cant comment on the game other than…

ANZAC Day SANFL Football – Eagles v Centrals

Went to Adelaide on ANZAC day afternoon to watch the Grand Final replay, the Eagles managed to win this time – would have been better if it was the other way round but anyway it was a great afternoon. Centrals played a typical feral game it started before the siren even sounded.

And the Eagles got a free kick from it and they were never headed. Still getting used to my camera but I did take a few photos.
